The 15th of August at St. Dominic Savio High School began with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, invoking God’s blessings upon the nation and its people. The occasion brought the Savio community together to celebrate India’s freedom, honour the sacrifices of its heroes and reflect on the responsibilities that accompany liberty.
Following the Mass, the school community gathered for the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Franco Pereira, as the National Anthem echoed with pride. The Guests of Honour, Mr. and Mrs. Kambli, proud parents of the SSC Batch 2026 School Topper, Mast. Ishaan Kambli, joined the parents of meritorious SSC students and subject toppers in sharing the joy of the celebration.
The programme featured patriotic songs, a vibrant dance performance and a meaningful speech that highlighted the importance of safeguarding freedom through responsible citizenship.
In his address, Rector and Manager Rev. Fr. Francisco Pereira reflected on the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and reminded students that freedom must be valued through the choices they make each day. Through his message, “Look, Listen, Choose and Act,” he encouraged everyone to live with gratitude, respect, responsibility and courage while honouring those who continue to protect the nation’s freedom.
Meritorious students and subject toppers from various disciplines were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Franco Pereira and Principal Ms. Valerie Mascarenhas. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a visit to the student exhibition and a fellowship breakfast shared with the meritorious Ex-Savions, their parents and the staff, bringing the celebration to a warm and meaningful close.
