The Life Cycle of Things: From Creation to Pollution to Change
On 28th January, 2026, at St. Dominic Savio High School, an insightful and well-structured session on “The Life Cycle of Things: From Creation to Pollution to Change” was conducted for the Zero Waste Management Club, under the guidance of Ms. Jagruti Tandel and Mr. Harold Francis. The session began with a brief review of concepts discussed in earlier workshops, enabling students to strengthen their understanding and link prior learning with new ideas.
The session aimed to develop systems thinking by guiding students to explore the complete life cycle of everyday products—from the extraction of raw materials and manufacturing to usage and final disposal. Through the interactive Life Cycle Detective group activity, students examined items such as a T-shirt, plastic bottle, notebook, and mobile phone, identifying stages that contribute most significantly to environmental impact.
Emphasis was laid on the fact that reducing consumption is more effective than recycling, and students were encouraged to practise mindful, responsible, and sustainable habits in their daily lives.
