Teachers’ Day at St. Dominic Savio High School was celebrated over two joyful days, 3rd and 4th September 2026, as the entire school community came together to honour the teachers who nurture young minds, inspire dreams and guide their students towards a brighter tomorrow.
The celebrations began on Thursday, 3rd September, with the Nursery, Pre-Primary and Primary sections expressing their gratitude through prayer, music, laughter and heartfelt gestures. In the Primary Section, a special programme organised by parents and students began with a prayer service, followed by an energetic dance and a series of fun-filled games. Teachers enjoyed the challenge of recognising their students by their voices, while videos prepared by the children, sharing their thoughts and wishes, added a touching personal dimension to the celebrations.
The Kindergarten Section welcomed its teachers amidst beautiful decorations of hearts and flowers. A musical welcome, prayer by a parent and a student, was followed by a welcome song and a spirited Bollywood dance. Riddles, tongue twisters and singing by the teachers brought plenty of laughter, while handmade cards presented by the children became treasured tokens of affection. The Nursery children too joined the celebrations with enthusiasm, presenting a cheerful dance in which parents participated.
On 4th September, the Secondary Section began the day with the felicitation of teachers, followed by engaging games and words of appreciation from the students. The celebrations then moved to the Assembly Hall for a vibrant combined programme presented by students of all the sections. Centred on the theme “Nurturing Hope, Inspiring Dreams – Together, we grow towards a brighter tomorrow,” the programme began with prayer intentions seeking God’s blessings for the teachers and the entire school family. The Sr. KG children presented a delightful welcome song, followed by an address by the Rector and Manager, Rev. Fr. Francisco Pereira. The Boarders’ Band, Primary and Secondary students and Parents, then enthralled the gathering with lively musical and dance performances. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and a touching tribute to teachers for their patience, dedication and encouragement.
The celebration continued with the Holy Eucharist, with Rev. Fr. Francisco Pereira, Rector and Manager, as the Main Celebrant. In his homily, he reflected on Mary as one of the first mothers of our Founder, St. John Bosco, and drew inspiration from the Strenna, “Do whatever he tells you.” The two-day celebration concluded with games and a fellowship meal, along with the felicitation of retired teachers, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the school’s journey and legacy.
From the tiniest hands to the confident voices of the senior students, the celebrations echoed one shared sentiment—gratitude for the teachers who hold young hands, guide growing minds and inspire dreams for the future.
