First Staff Meeting for the Academic Year 2023-2024, 10th June, 2023:
After a refreshing summer break, the staff of St. Dominic Savio High school was back at school on 10th June, 2023 for a joint staff meeting. As we buckle up to navigate into the new academic year, the Principal Ms. Valerie Mascarenhas welcomed the management, teaching and the non-teaching staff. The gathering in unison thanked God for the many celebrations and challenges encountered during the year gone by. The traditional samai was lit by the leadership team invoking the Lord’s choicest blessings, with hopes and prayers for a blissful new scholastic year. The Principal, Mrs. Valerie Mascarenhas, officially welcomed and introduced the newly appointed Rector and Manager Rev. Fr. Francisco Pereira. The newest members of the Savion Family were warmly welcomed during this occasion too. Addressing the staff, Rev. Fr. Francisco wished to journey the academic year together as a family. He enlightened the staff about Rector Major’s strenna 2023- “Be the yeast in today’s human family.” Fr. Francisco promised to reveal more of himself and interact with all staff on individual level very soon. He placed on record the good work done by our former Rector and Manager Rev. Fr Brian Moras. He acknowledged the efforts put in by Rev. Fr. Brian through his leadership and animating skills, taking the school to greater heights during his two terms in Dominic Savio Institution. Rev Fr. Francisco further congratulated the entire staff for an excellent results at the SSC board for the academic year 2022-2023. “We are unique in all ways but called to work together,” with these words Fr Francisco emphasized on unity and encouraged the staff to work together as a team. He laid stress on promoting the Preventive System, which is the essence of every Salesian institution. As teachers we are called to be present with the young to synchronise the head, heart and the hand in love. The Principal declared the theme for the new scholastic year, “Be Savion- a catalyst of positive change in society.” She elicited upon the school rules and disseminated required instructions. As one Savion family while we embark on a joyful venture 2023-2024 we aspire to mould honest and well groomed citizens. We pray to the Lord that like Don Bosco, we too may lead our children to do good, to do their duty and be cheerful.
