Recycling things is like magic that turns ordinary things into extraordinary.”
To make children aware of the uses of waste material, and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, the ‘Best out of waste competition’ was organized for classes 1 to 4 on the 9th of August, 2023 in The Primary Section from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm. Mrs. Mary D’Souza and Mrs. Soumya Khosla were the teachers in charge of the competition.
It was amazing to see the students transforming scrap material into useful and beautiful articles. The objective of the competition was to create a love for the environment by making the best out of waste with the help of recyclable things.
The three ‘Rs’ namely Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle were a part of the waste hierarchy which was used to protect the environment and conserve resources through a priority approach. The aim of this competition was to get maximum practical benefits from products and to generate the minimum amount of waste children. The creativity displayed by the children was mesmerizing. The competition promoted artistic fervor in our leaders of tomorrow.
Students prepared very creative and innovative models and art items from different waste materials. They used reusable and recyclable materials like newspapers, shoe boxes, bangles, ice cream sticks, and much more. From these items, they created an amazing array of display items and useful everyday objects leaving everyone impressed. The values like preservation, recycling, conservation, reduction, reuse, etc are imbibed in the young heart and mind by demonstrating this noble act of caring for our environment.
