Language is the magic key that opens doors to learning, friendship, and confidence. To help parents unlock this magic at home, our Pre-Primary section hosted a lively workshop titled ‘Developing Language Skills in Children’ for Jr. KG parents on Saturday, 25th July, 2026. The morning began with a prayer and a high-energy energizer that had everyone smiling and moving. What followed was learning disguised as fun! Parents solved alphabet riddles, played a fun memory game, acted out letters in Alphabet Dumb Charades and Alphabet Stories, and cheered through Alphabet Bingo and Letter Object Race. Laughter filled the hall as parents became students again.
The English teacher, led the session with creative insights, while showcasing colourful children’s books sharing a powerful message: in the age of screens, “reading WITH children matters more than reading TO children.” Practical tips to build reading and pre-writing skills at home, were also shared through an informative video.
A special highlight was the session by our school counsellor on Pre-Writing Skills. She explained to the parents about the importance of perception, visual and auditory perception, development of fine and gross motor skills and common challenges children face while writing. She also demonstrated simple, play-based ways to strengthen grip, coordination, and confidence of children.
The workshop ended with an open Q&A and glowing feedback from parents. It was a joyful reminder that when children ‘Play while they learn’, literacy skills grow naturally and love for books begins at home.
