St. Dominic Savio High School celebrated International Yoga Day on 20th June, uniting students, parents and staff in a shared commitment to health, mindfulness and well-being.
Guided by the PT Master, the Pre-Primary students engaged in stretching, breathing and mindfulness activities, while the Primary students participated in a special session conducted by Ms. Glory Arockiam, a yoga instructor, classical dancer, and choreographer. Through breathing techniques, stretching exercises, asanas, mudras, Anulom Vilom and Surya Namaskar, students discovered the benefits of yoga for physical and mental wellness. The session concluded with a Sanskrit shloka, inspiring healthy living.
The celebration extended to the Secondary Section, where parents participated in a guided yoga session before the PTA meeting. Under the guidance of the PT Master, students demonstrated various asanas, including Parvatasana, Padmasana, Konasana, Paschimottanasana, Halasana, Bhujangasana, and Dhanurvakrasana, showcasing yoga’s role in enhancing fitness, flexibility, concentration and overall well-being.
The day concluded with breathing exercises, fostering calm, clarity and a strong sense of community.
