Republic Day Celebrations at St. Dominic Savio High School
St. Dominic Savio High School observed the 77th Republic Day on 26th January 2026 with deep reverence and patriotic enthusiasm. The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by the Rector and Manager, Rev. Fr. Franco Pereira, which also marked the fifth day of the Novena in preparation for the Feast of St. John Bosco. In his homily, Fr. Franco reflected on Don Bosco’s value of Work and Activity, inspiring students to remain purposefully engaged in their responsibilities and to remember and honour all those who work selflessly for the good of society.
The Republic Day programme followed with the unfurling of the National Flag by Rev. Fr. Franco Pereira and Principal Ms. Valerie Mascarenhas. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the solemn recitation of the Preamble led by the School Vice-Captain. A stirring patriotic speech by Master Gyan Thakur, along with a vibrant song and dance performance, infused the atmosphere with national pride.
In his address, Fr. Rector spoke on the theme of Hope and emphasised the constitutional values of liberty and freedom from ignorance and poverty, urging students to become messengers of peace, love and hope. The programme concluded with the staff and students pledging their contribution towards a hundred percent literate state of Maharashtra by January 2027, and an impressive mass drill led by PT Master Sir Bhavesh Sawant, leaving the audience inspired and uplifted.
