Parents Awareness Program on Substance Abuse – 13th August 2016

Drug abuse among youth is of rising concern. Initiation into drugs begins often during teenage years and usually peaks between 18 to 25 years. Peer pressure, curiosity, lack of awareness and involvement are often cited as the main reasons for youth getting involved in drug use. It is therefore essential to generate awareness and involvement in preventing such acts.
The Anti – Addiction Team at St. Dominic Savio High School focuses on drug abuse prevention activities in the school. The teachers and students have been made aware of the ill effects of drug abuse and addiction.
13th August 2016 was one such day when another important stakeholder, the parents were made aware of the same by the school counsellor, Ms. Analisa Alphonso. The parents of standard 8th, 9th and 10th were given insights into recognition of and risk factors for substance abuse so that each parent is able to guide their child to the best of their ability.
Maintaining an open door policy, the parents of students are welcome to come forward with any such issues.
