Cultural Day Programme Std I
On 23rd of September 2017 at 2 p.m. in the A.V. Hall at St. Dominic Savio High School Std One had celebrated their cultural day. ‘Concern For Others’ was the theme for the day.
We had our little comperes who welcomed Rev. Fr. Brian Moras, sdb, Our Rector and Manager, Our Principal Mrs. Valerie Mascarenhas, Our Vice Rector and Administer Rev. Fr. Shekar Maridas, Our Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Mylin Noronha, Our Head Teacher Mrs. Marina Corda and the co-ordinating teacher Mrs. Andrea Gonsalves, Their Head Parents Mrs.Lianne Fernandes and Mr.Jobby Joseph and their class teachers Mrs.Treilee Pires and Mr.Rosalin Ambrose.
It was a great day, full of joy and exhilaration as the little Savions of Std One welcomed not only the parents but also their grandparents. It was a time to chill, to cheer, to shine, to inspire and be inspired. The backdrop unfolded a celebration of vision, burst of colours, joy and splender. The kids invoked God’s blessings through a prayer dance, a heart warming welcome song, a skit to depict their concern for their companions, four different variations of different snapshots of dances which set the audience feet tapping.
Rev. Fr Brian Moras the Rector of the institution was called upon to address the gathering, In his address Rev.Fr. expressed his gratitude to see not only the parents but also the grandparents, he took us through the words displayed on the backdrop-‘Light up the world with concern’- care for our pets, return lost property, hug your mum n dad, help and old person, keep room tidy, donate old toys and feed the birds and also people who are hungry.
Rev. Fr. Moras also quoted the words of a senior priest Rev.Fr. Steve Rodrigues, ‘Lives of great men all remind us that we can make our lives sublimes and departing leave behind us footprints in the sands of life.’
A programme would not be complete without a word of appreciation and so we had a vote of thanks by Our Head Teacher Mrs. Marina Corda who expressed her gratitude to Our Rector, Principal, The teachers of Std I ,All the parents who helped and Our support staff Uncle Prakesh and Uncle Harish for all the arrangements made in the hall.
The students concluded their programme with – the Finale Song.
