27th March 2019 is a date everyone connected to St. Dominic Savio High School and Boys’ Home will remember for eternity. It is a day when the Institution was blessed with the solemn presence of our dearest Rector Major Rev. Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime.
On his arrival, Rev. Fr. Rector Major (the 10th successor of Don Bosco) was greeted by our Rector Rev. Fr. Brian Moras. He was then given a traditional welcome with the Aarti and presented flowers by the little babies of the KG section. He then proceeded to Prafulta for an interaction with the staff.
The latter half of the morning was spent with the students of the secondary section, evening study classes, staff, past pupils and Salesian corporators. He was greeted into the school premises by our Principal Ms. Valerie Mascarenhas. Every stakeholder left no stone unturned to make our dear Rector Major feel special and at home in this Savion Family. From bouquets to the placing of the Indian turban by our Administrator Rev. Fr. Shekar Mariadas; gifting mementos to graceful, jaw dropping performances by the Salesians, Staff and Students, it all spoke volumes of the joy in our hearts to have the Rector Major visit us on this joyous occasion of our Golden Jubilee.
In his address to the students, Fr. Rector Major thanked everyone for their warm welcome and enthusiastic performances and reminded the boys that every member of this Salesian Savion Family is here for them, to help them grow into happy individuals. If the visit of our Rector Major was the icing on this golden cake, the cherry on the icing was the special performance of the Rector Major and his secretary Rev. Fr. Horacio López.
The afternoon concluded with a sumptuous lunch with the Rector Major. His simplicity and humbleness stole our hearts away and we wish to be blessed with yet another encounter with him.
